December 09. The Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms has been honoured in the Visit London Awards 2009.

Phil Reed OBE, Director of the Museum said "In the twenty-fifth year of being open to the public the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms is especially delighted to be given the accolade of a Visit London Silver Award For Best Tourism Experience. The award, one of the highest and hardest fought for in the industry, is a mark of both the consistent high standards of enjoyment, visitor care and excitement offered by the CMCWR and also of its achievement in continuing to innovate and meet changing modern tastes".

The Cabinet War Rooms operated round the clock from the beginning of the war in 1939 to its end in August 1945.  In 1940, shortly after assuming the office of Prime Minister, Winston Churchill stood in the Cabinet Room and declared, 'this is the room from which I will direct the war'.  It was here at the Cabinet War Rooms that Churchill experienced his 'finest hour'.

The Churchill Museum, the first major museum in the world dedicated to the life and achievements of Sir Winston Churchill gives you the opportunity to explore the man behind the legend.  You can discover new and intriguing facts about him and learn how Churchill came to merit the heroic status that he holds to this day.

Not only an award winning tourism experience, The Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms offers a unique and atmospheric event facility enabling you to entertain with a difference and walk in Churchill's footsteps.  For further information, please email cwr@sodexo.com, call 0207 766 0134 or visit their profile on PrestigeMeetings.
