Jubilee Event and new Jubilee Deck
HMS Belfast was a hub of activity on Sunday 3rd June for the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant. Permanently moored between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast was one of the best locations in London to view the Flotilla from.
During the day Sodexo Prestige looked after 250 invited guests between all 4 of its function rooms who booked to have a prime view of the flotilla from the decks and enjoy a lunch and afternoon tea.
During the day, the iconic warship was used as a filming location for the BBC which was hosted by Radio 1’s Fearne Cotton and she interviewed some of the veterans who were on board and discussed their memories of their time when they served on board the warship. Notable guests on the day included Admiral Lord James Eberle and Actor Edward Fox. Despite the rain, the event was a huge success and was much enjoyed by all who were on board for what was an event that will not be forgotten.
Other news to report this month on board HMS Belfast includes the renovation of The Jubilee Deck which previously was unused. The deck was renovated in time for the river pageant with new access ladders (stairs) and new guard rails. The deck now has superb views of the river and guests who were standing on it were very close to all the action during the Flotilla.
The Deck is now available to hire for external events during daytime opening hours which we previously did not have. This is suitable for small groups (30 max) for receptions and summer parties, conference breakout and even private dining.
