The Great British Bake off

The ‘Great Prestige Bake Off’ took place on Tuesday 10th July at the London Head Office of Sodexo Prestige and was the brain child of Head of Food Operations, Mark Parfait & Operational Development Manager, Alex Kristall.
Open to all Prestige London employees, staff were asked to enter one complete cake or 4 individual baked items whether it be cupcakes, a tray bake or biscuits and they had to supply their own ingredients and display ware.
The three categories included:
- The best cake or cupcake
- The best tray bake
- The best biscuit
Mark Parfait, said, “During the Olympics we want to be able to offer an amazing afternoon tea selection within our staff restaurants as there is nothing quite so quintessentially British as homemade cake and a nice cup of tea. And what a perfect excuse for a little bit of competition! Not only will we have the best brownies on offer, but we can confidently say they are homemade and the recipe came from one of our employees.”
Competitors had to provide a full recipe and costing and had to cost no more than £1.00 per portion of cake or tray bake and 50p per biscuit. Over xx employees entered and when judging each entry, points were awarded for flavour and taste, presentation, innovation, composition of ingredients and adherences of competition rules.
The lucky winners were chosen on Wednesday 11th July:
Tray Bake Competition
Peter O’Connor - ING for his Blueberry & Almond Slice
Cake Competition
Adam Standen - Nabarro for his Dark Chocolate & Coca Cola Cake
Biscuit Competition
Tony Stuart - Shearman & Sterling for his Dark Chocolate and Walnut
Each of the winners were rewarded with afternoon tea for two at Claridge’s and their dishes will be sold in every Prestige London site throughout the Olympics.
